The Perth Jazz Society & Tone List's beloved series for avant-garde jazz and improvised music returns for its second season.

In a special partnership with the Australian Art Orchestra, the fourth concert of the TuneNoiseTune series presents a triple-bill of solos by members of the AAO, accompanied by an extraordinary local duo.

Join us upstairs in the striking setting of the Rechabite Hall as Peter Knight and Aviva Endean launch elaborate and virtuosic solo albums on Room40 working with instruments and electronics:

Peter Knight threads his trumpet through analogue tape loops, whilst Aviva uses wind instruments, effects pedals and sound design techniques to make elaborate collages.

Jasmin Wing-Yin Leung 梁詠然 explores site-specific resonances in tune with phenomenal erhu playing.

(.....mumblefunk), the duo of Simon Jeans and Daniel Susnjar, explore pan-genre improvisation on guitar and drums.

With an emphasis on improvisation, The Australian Art Orchestra (AAO) explores the meeting points between disciplines and cultures and imagines new musical forms to reflect the energy and diversity of 21st century Australia.

Founded by Paul Grabowsky AO in 1994 the AAO is one of Australia’s leading contemporary ensembles. Now led by daring composer/trumpeter/sound artist Peter Knight, its work constantly seeks to stretch genres and break down the barriers separating disciplines, forms and cultures.

It explores the interstices between the avant-garde and the traditional, between art and popular music, between electronic and acoustic approaches, and creates music that traverse the continuum between improvised and notated forms.

More details on the Australian Art Orchestra's activities in Western Australia can be found on the Audible Edge Festival website.
