“An original blend of cinematic, groove, r’n’b, jazz, ambient and fusion sounds.”
In preparations for the recording of their debut album, LiveWyre takes to the Perth Jazz Society Stage, offering a teaser of what’s to come. If you’d like to support the development of the album or learn more about it, you can do so here: https://pozible.com/project/bens-making-a-livewyre-album
LiveWyre is an original project that was started in 2014 by pianist and composer Ben Matthews. The goal of this project is to break away from the straight-ahead jazz flavours of his previous endeavours by incorporating elements from the r’n’b, funk, ambient, fusion, groove and cinematic music genres. Much of the music draws influence from musicians who blend genres in their own writing style; the compositional sounds of jazz masters like Pat Metheny, Hiromi Uehara, Robert Glasper (etc) are alluded to throughout the music of the LiveWyre project.
Tonight’s music will be presented by the powerhouse talents of Bronton Ainsworth (drums), Joe Southwell (electric bass), Ben Matthews (piano), Sean Little (saxophone), with feature artist Holli Scott.
