Interview Music - Gabriel Fatin

Gabriel Fatin

Gabriel graduated from Bachelor of Jazz Performance course at WAAPA last year, receiving the Best Recitalist award. In 2013 he also performed at both the Perth and Melbourne International Jazz Festivals, traveled to New York City for two weeks to take part in a workshop hosted by NYU and was invited several times to play his own music at the Ellington Jazz Club, one of Perth’s only listening focused venues.

While in high school he was accepted into the Juilliard Winter Jazz School through national auditions for all students under the age of 19, and spent two weeks studying in Melbourne with Carl Allen (Artistic Director at Julliard NYC) and other lecturers from the school. After completing his high school education he was invited to perform as part of Performing Arts Perspectives along with only three other music students statewide at His Majesty’s Theatre over two nights.

Gabriel currently works as a freelance musician regularly performing in a wide variety of musical settings, including jazz, latin/salsa, pop, hip hop and soul.

“Conductor Mace Francis presided over an in-form WAYJO with Gabriel Fatin, in particular, doing wonders at the piano in stylistic terms. “ – Neville Cohn (The West Australian) 2014
